Govt urged to bring bodies of 4 workers killed in Kerala

Family members of the four contractual workers from Kendrapada, who were killed following a fire mishap in a Kerala’s Sipson Plywood factory have urged the State Government to bring back the bodies so that they can cremate them at their village grave yards as per Hindu rituals.

They demanded this while alleging that the factory management is not intending to handover the bodies and trying to cremate there in a bid to suppress the matter. According to reports, four workers, Ashok Das (21), Haladhar Das (40) and Dhaneswar Swain (32) from Satabhaya and Sahadeb Patra (35) of Junagada village under Kendrapada district’s Rajnagar block had sustained severe burn injuries following a blast occurred inside the factory’s heat chamber on April 16.

They succumbed to injuries later one after another in a local health centre while the factory authorities did not provide them better medical care. Nilamani Das, brother of Haladhar who died on April 30, has informed a section of Media that that the factory owners have disposed of the bodies of three workers who died earlier and are refusing to hand over his brother’s body to him. Nilamani, who is now in Kerala, said the local administration there has turned deaf years to his repeated request.
