The Joint Enforcement Wing of BDA and BMC has been asked by BDA Vice-Chairman and Municipal Commissioner Dr Krishan Kumar regarding a process to seal the premises of business establishments and big structures along NH-16 at Pahala who have built roads without adequate passage for the storm water to pass through. They have constructed the roads connecting their premises to NH-16, thereby causing flood-like situations in the nearby areas.
The Municipal Commissioner with senior officials visited the Pahala area under Ward-4 on the city outskirts and discovered that many commercial establishments have constructed roads connecting the NH but not paying any heed to the passage of storm water during rains.
The Commissioner ordered immediate action by the Enforcement Wing to take joint action so that the establishments found blocking the rainwater along the NH are taken to task. A marriage complex was also found blocking rainwater near the NH.
Sources said a survey would be done to find out the validity of the construction of the structures in Ward-4 as the waterlogging issue has become acute across the city. The establishments detected with no building plan approvals from the BDA and no approval from the NHAI to develop roads with proper passage of water underneath would be seriously dealt with by the enforcement team of BDA and BMC.
