The State Government on Tuesday decided to appoint a Food Commissioner under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) very soon.
A decision to this effect was taken at a NFSA review meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Secretariat. It was also decided that the officers of the Additional District Magistrate cadre would be appointed as DGROs (District Grievance Redressal Officers).
It was revealed that registration of beneficiaries and digitization works, taken up on a pilot basis in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and Bhubaneswar block area, has been completed. ’A total of 1.05,36,640 applications have been received out of which over 96,86,440 applications have been digitised. The NFSA is likely to be enforced in the State from October 1, 2015.
