A 59-year-old Government employee of Kurga village in Sundargarh district was arrested and forwarded to court by the Sadar police on Tuesday for allegedly planning to kill his wife and son-in-law. Bhagawan Patel, who works as an agricultural supervisor at Tangerpalli block in the district, had planned to kill the duo as they were opposing Patel’s extramarital affair with a 27-year-old girl of the district. Earlier, Patel’s wife Anusuya had lodged an FIR at the Sadar police station three months ago after knowing about his husband’s extramarital affair. Though Patel was arrested and forwarded to court, he was later granted bail as his wife withdrew the case following Patel’s confession. But, Patel continued to keep his relationship with the girl. Knowing this, Anusaya again lodged a complaint, following which Patel was arrested. “We have found a recording of a mobile conversation between Patel and his lover, where Patel was speaking about his murder plan,” police said.
