The locals of Khemela GP under Pallahara block began a hunger strike on Wednesday in the GP office premises opposing irregularities in various Government schemes.
The schemes such as PMAY, Biju Pakka Ghara, pension schemes and Harish Chandra Yojana are manipulated, alleged the deprived beneficiaries. They said deserving ones are deprived of the benefit of the schemes. They further informed that they had lodged their complaints before the Panchayati Raj department a year ago and the department had also issued notice to PD DRDA Angul to investigate the matter on December 16. But the allegations have not been inquired by the department till now, lamented Chinta Mani Samal, leading the agitation.
Being informed the ABDO Pallahara went to the spot and assured the agitators of an inquiry into the matter. However, the agitators continuing the stir demanded that the Collector come to the spot for negotiation.
