Govt sacks 408 absentee docs

The Odisha Government on Friday sacked 408 doctors for not attending their respective workplaces at different Government hospitals for long.

A release from the Chief Minister’s Office informed that the State Health Department had initiating departmental action by issuing notices to 412 absentee doctors through newspaper advertisements. Responding to the notices, only four doctors submitted applications against the departmental action. The Government accepted their pleas and sacked the rest 408 doctors.

The Odisha State Public Service Commission (OPSC) has already given its consent to the sacking proposal of the Government.

The dismissal decision was taken as people had been facing problems in getting health services due to absence of these doctors for long, the release said.
