The State Government has revised the rent for its employees, who are keeping their quarters after retirement.
Reviewing the duration for keeping the quarters and rent, the Government has directed the Department of General Administration (DoGA) to simplify the process along with re-fixing the rent of the quarters.
This was revealed by a notification issued by the DoGA on Thursday. As per the revised rule, a retired employee can stay in the quarter for three months on normal rent. later, the rent would be increased by four fold for next five months.
The minimum duration for keeping the Government quarter after retirement shall be eight months.
Besides, as per the previous rule, a Government employee is to file an affidavit about holding on his 50-per cent death or retirement dues during the period of fresh allotment. The dues would be refunded to him/her after vacating the quarter.
It would be considered illegal if the retired employee keeps the quarter after eight months of his retirement and action would be taken accordingly under the Orissa Prevention of land Encroachment Act, 1972.
Along with, a 20-fold more rent would be collected from a retired employee, said a rent official.
An employee, who would be reappointed at any Government office, commission or autonomous organisation after retirement, can keep the quarter on normal rent till he/she turns 62.
For violation of the rule, action would be taken accordingly by considering him/her as an encroacher.
