Govt programmes turn BJD events: Ex-Union Minister

Published on:

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu on Tuesday pulled up Ministers of the State Government for turning Government programmes as events of the ruling BJD.

Sahu made the allegation at a Press conference here while referring to a Government programme held in Gumma block in Gajapati district in July last week which was attended by Higher Education Minister Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy.

“Though the meeting was a Government-sponsored one, the Parala MlA and other people’s representatives had not been invited as they belonged to the Congress. The Minister converted the programme into a BJD event as BJD flags had been fixed on Government vehicles,” alleged Sahu.

Though Congress workers opposed this and showed black flags to the Minister, police beat them up and detained many.

Giving another example, he said goons engaged by BJD leaders had attacked Congress workers during their peaceful demonstrations in Nuagada and Gumma blocks.

“The Congress will oppose this undemocratic attitude of BJD leaders in coming days,” said Sahu.
