The State Government doesn’t know whether South Korea steel major Posco would establish its proposed plant at Paradip or not.
This is implied from the information furnished by Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick in the Assembly in response to a question of Congress MlA Kailash Chandra Kulesika on Friday.
While Kulesika wanted to know whether the Posco would set up the proposed plant at Paradip, the Minister said the company has not yet communicated to the Government that it would not go ahead with the project. However, the Government knows from media reports that the company authorities have put the project on hold for a temporary period.
The Posco project authorities have not even presented the implementation schedule for establishment of the 12 million steel production capacity project, Mallick added.
The Minister said the Idco has not acquired any private land for the Posco project.
