The BJP-led Central Government is using agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to terrorise the Opposition, said the Congress on Monday.
“The State Governments are being destabilised by money power and misuse of agencies. Efforts are being made in a systematic manner to subvert the Constitution, dismantle the institutions, hollow out democracy and destroy unity and fraternity, alleged All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Dr Anshul Avijit at a Press conference here.
The assets of the country are being sold to crony capitalists at a huge loss. Economically, the rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer. Common people are distressed by skyrocketing inflation and massive unemployment. The people are being divided on the basis of caste, religion, food and language. Every day, a new conspiracy is hatched to make one Indian fight another, said Avijit.
The party, with an aim to join the country together and unite people to tackle these challenges, would kick-start a ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from September 7 from Kanyakumari. With the slogan 'Mile Kadam, Jude Vatan', (join the country together). The five-month padayatra would cover more than 3,500 km from Kanyakumari to Jammu and Kashmir through 12 States and two Union Territories, he said.
During the rallies and public meetings as part of the yatra, the Congress led by Rahul Gandhi would discuss economic and political issues such as unemployment, inflation, farm distress, social polarisation and threats to democracy, Avijit said.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Sarat Patnaik, former MP Nakula Nayak, former Minister Rabindra Sethi and media cell chairman Ganeshwar Behera were present. .
