Senior BJP leader Bishwa Bhushan Harichandan on Wednesday said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, his Ministers and BJD leaders are hoodwinking people by giving false information during the ruling party’s ongoing Jan Sampark Padayatra.

“The BJD Padayatra, which started on October 2, should at least create awareness among people about Gandhiji’s tobacco and liquor prohibition policy. But, the ruling party has lost morality to do so as it has opened liquor shops in every corner of the State and made people drunkard in the name of collecting excise revenue for State’s development,” alleged Harichandan, informing that the Government has targeted to earn Rs 2450 crore from this head.

He alleged that the Naveen Government has not been able to implement its promises of providing agriculture loans at one per cent interest rate and supplying free power for cultivation. The Government has failed to combat the drought situation.

lamenting that unemployment problem is rising day by day, the former Minister said the education system has been totally paralysed in the State. “It is disappointing that 38,000 teacher posts in schools and 40 per cent of lecture posts in colleges are lying vacant,” he said.

Regarding Mid-Day Meal programme, Harichandan said the State Government has furnished wrong information to people. He said the apprehension of Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Sanjay Kumar Dasburma regarding MDM system is false. “It has been mentioned in the Human Resources Ministry’s circular that provision of MDM in schools will not be stopped at all. Dasburma’s apprehension of MDM closure is baseless,” he said.
