Finally, the State Government woke up to provide assistance for treatment of eminent theatre personality Asim Basu, who is suffering from lungs related diseases.
The Culture Department issued a cheque of Rs 1 lakh from the Artists’ fund for treatment of 82-year-old Basu.
“I have already approved Rs 1 lakh for the treatment of the eminent artist. I wish him seedy recovery,” said Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda.
Similarly, Khordha district Collector Niranjan Sahu went to Basu’s house and handed over Rs 20,000 in cash to his family members. He too enquired about his health condition from family members. Basu’s daughter Bhashwati Das thanked the Government for providing treatment aid to her father.
