Govt failed in tackling Titli: PCC chief

Published on:

The State Government has failed in managing Cyclone Titli, alleged Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik on Friday.

“The State Government had not made preparations to rescue and evacuate people from rain and flood-affected areas. The Government is only patting its back saying there is no loss occurred. But real picture is different. Thousands of people are stranded amidst flooded town and villages. They have suffered heavy losses due to the destruction caused by Cyclone Titli,” alleged Patnaik.

The PCC president said while the IMD had predicted heavy to very heavy rains to occur in many districts, the Government didn’t make any preparation for it. He demanded that victims of Cyclone Titli-hit Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Baleswar districts should be rescued and provided food and safe drinking water immediately. The domestic animals should be taken to safer places soon, demanded Patnaik.
