Mission Justice flayed the State Government for not recommending any names from Odisha for Padma Awards this year.
As per the tradition, the State Government should submit lists of nominations for Padma awards by September 15 each year. Regarding this, the media is appraised of and names are made public.
This year, the Central Government has started an online nomination for such awards. But none of the media houses has so far published the names recommended by the State Government for Padma awards given the deadline for online submission has expired.
Mission Justice founder president Tapan Padhi said it is an evident that this year the Government of Odisha has not nominated any one for Padma awards so far. “The inaction shows how complacent our Government is. In this matter silence of media is also unbearable,” he added.
He also demanded to make the details of nominations public if the State Government has already submitted nominations for the awards.
