Panchayati Raj Minister Dr Arun Kumar Sahoo on Monday asked District Panchayat Officers (DPOs) to take steps for proper utilisation of panchayat properties for increasing income of gram panchayats. “Gram panchayats have ample opportunities and potentiality. These need to be properly utilised for increasing their income,” the Minister told the DPOs at a meeting held here.
Besides, the Minister said the State Government is committed to reconstituting gram panchayats in order to expedite development. The process should be flawless and disciplined, he said. He further added that there is no dearth of money to take up developmental works in GPs but what is needed is they be properly utilised and accounted. He advised the DPOs to prepare database for their respective districts and submit to the Government.
