The general public is very much concerned over the attitude of the Government in giving free hand to the industries that violate constitutional provisions in availing water, forest and all natural resources of the State.

Even the Government has gone a step ahead to suppress public protest terming them as against development and supportive of Maoist movements. However, the National Alliance of People Movement (NAPM) in its State level conference at Jharsuguda has requested everybody to unite against the attitude of the Government.

Inaugurating the conference on Sunday at Cox Colony, Jharsuguda, Biramitrapur MlA George Tirkey openly criticised the Government’s attitude in handling issues like corporate torture and damaging natural resources etc. He requested all to come down on the road to raise voice against the Government.

NAPM advisor and eminent environmentalist Prafulla Samantaray in his address said that all projects not able to check pollution should immediately be banned by the Government. He also called upon to unite against the apathetic attitude of the Government towardscommon man.

“Both the State and Central Governments are trying to divide the country in the name of religion and communalism. The NAPM will support all movements in Jharsuguda against ‘Company Raj’ to protect public interest. The public revolution should be stronger to protect the interest of farmers, workers and issues like unemployment, displacement," Samantaray stressed.

National convenor of NAPM K Jadav condemned the corporate monopoly in giving justice to the displaced families for decades. He proposed to start public movements like liquor free and river safety drive in Odisha in collaboration with the Western Odisha Farmers Organisation.

NAPM State Advisory Committee member Kalyan Jadav, Balaakrishna Sandha and laxmipriya Mohanty jointly condemned the negative attitude of both State and Central Governments on issues like illegal acquisition of forest lands by industries and Veden river pollution, torture of the displaced and affected families in Jharsuguda. The State Advisory Committee of NAPM was reconstituted with MlA George Tirkey nominated as the advisor.
