Govt asked to spend Budget funds appropriately

Noted budget analysers on Sunday suggested to the State Government to spend Budget allocations appropriately so that there would be infrastructural development and growth in per capital income of the people.

“Both the Central Government and the State Government have been promoting alms and making people dependent on Government for earning their livelihoods instead of making them skilled and work- efficient. While loan burden per head is on the rise, it is least expected that the Government cannot bring happiness to people. In this situation Budget allocations should be spent appropriately,” viewed speakers at a Budget analysis programme organised by the Sookruti, Odisha International Centre.

Stating that Odisha is expected to get about `30,000 crore from the Central Budget, the speakers said the State Governemnt’s draft Budget of `95,000 crore can bring development if taxpayers’ money is not worthlessly spend, and spending on advertisement for ‘self promotion’ is checked.

They demanded that State Government should publish its Budget data in people’s language in newspapers.

Noted fiancé experts Panchanan Kanungo, Sunil Das, Dillip Satpathy and Rajib Pradhan and social activists Ajit Das, Kalyan Ray and Paresh Nayak spoke on the occasion.

The programme was presided over by RCM College president Prabir Pal.
