'Govt admits no growth in backward districts'

Published on:

A day after the State Government assigned charges to four senior bureaucrats for overseeing implementation of development programmes in four backward Maoist-affected districts, the BJP on Wednesday said by doing so the Naveen Patnaik Government has admitted that no visible development has taken place in these areas as has been repeatedly stated by the BJP. Party spokesperson Sameer Mohanty in a Press release, however, thanked Patnaik for thinking about development of backward districts after 15 years of his rule. The Chief Minister on Tuesday appointed four senior bureaucrats in the rank of Additional Chief Secretary to oversee the development activities in Maoist affected Nuapada, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Kandhamal districts. Patnaik appointed Member Board of Revenue Ashok Tripathy to take charge of Nuapada, Development Commissioner UN Behera of Malkangiri district, Finance Secretary R Balakrishnan of Nabarangpur and Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Aditya Prasad Padhi of Kandhamal.

Patnaik would review the developmental work in these districts every month, official sources said.
