After the BJP’s Nagaland unit accused Odisha Governor SC Jamir of campaigning for the Congress and a regional party in that State and urged the Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer to look into the matter, Union Minister and Odisha BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday termed Dr Jamir’s alleged act as unfortunate.
Pradhan said people in Constitutional posts should stay away from such controversies. However, the Nagaland CEO has been apprised about the incident and the CEO would look into the matter.
In reaction, Odisha Congress leader Narasingha Mishra said let the BJP first prove the charge against Jamir. Besides, the Central Government has the powers to take action in such matters.
Notably, the Nagaland BJP on Thursday filed a complaint against Jamir with the Nagaland CEO in Kohima, accusing the former Congress leader of “threatening” democracy with his action.
“The Odisha Governor has been camping in the State and is campaigning for particular candidates of the Congress and the regional party Naga People’s Front,” Nagaland BJP president Visasolie lhoungu alleged.
