The future of mankind will be bleak unless a massive plantation drive is undertaken, said Governor SC Jamir during the observance of the World Environment Day here on Thursday. Each human being needs to plant a sapling and nurture it to its natural growth, he said.
Earlier in the day, the Governor planted a Bakul sapling at the premises of the Raj Bhavan. Governor’s Additional Secretary JB Mishra, Personal Secretary PK Rath, Comptroller SN Panigrahi, among others, followed the suit and planted different saplings. Raj Bhavan Horticulture Officer BK Padhi coordinated the programme.
