Gopalpur Port resumes ops after 2 yrs

Published on:

Since Phailin struck Odisha coast in 2013, ship berthing had been stopped at the Gopalpur port. However, after two years, a vessel has anchored at the Port recently.

The ship, called Grace, from Sri lanka has docked in the port. After repair work was completed in the port, ships have been slowly coming in the port. The port will be fully functional by December 12, the authorities said.

The port authorities have said that after Grace, five more ships are going to dock here this month. The

reopening of the Gopalpur Port has spread cheer among the locals as more than 5,000 workers can find employment after the port becomes fully operational.
