Gopalpur Port refutes black granite loading

Published on:

The Gopalpur Port limited (GPl) has clarified that neither it has loaded black granite illegally into MV Jal Bahini nor faced any show-cause for it refuting to a report in some sections of media. In a clarification over the report, GPl Group president (HR) Suvendu Das said that the GPl is not in any manner associated with the issue of granite loading on the MV Jal Bahini and the media reports are completely incorrect and misleading.

In a release he said, “The GPl is a port which provides services to various persons in relation to the loading and unloading of cargo. We would like to emphasise that GPl does not have any ownership or interest in any cargo, and is not responsible for the nature of the cargo or its compliance with any regulations. The compliance is completely managed by the Customs Department of the Government of India. In fact GPl cooperated with the Customs Department, and continues to so cooperate, in relation to the investigation into the loading of cargo into MV Jal Bahini. No proceedings have been initiated against GPl.”
