The 138th birth anniversary of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das was observed by political leaders and various organisations here on Friday.
At a garlanding function held at the at the Assembly premises here, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik along with several leaders paid floral tributes to the statue of Gopabandhu.
Besides, volunteers and members of the Smt Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) paid floral tributes to Gopabandhu’s statue installed at Gopabandhu Chak in front of the SNSMT headquarters here.
This was followed by a memorial meeting, where SNSMT Chairman Suparno Satpathy said, "Gopabandhu has been and will always remain an inspiration for all. His selfless and simple living must be adapted by each engaged with socio-political activism".
The Gopobandhu Jayanti was widely celebrated in many parts of Odisha and also by several Odia organizations in places like Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkataa and Chennai.
