The Vigilance police on Monday arrested Puri district’s Gop police station Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Soumyachit Mishra on the charge of demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 3,000 from Sibaprasad Jena of Nairasasan village for registration of a criminal case against some unknown persons who assaulted him at Koradakhanda village on May 19.
On the complaint of Jena, a trap had been laid and Mishra was caught red-handed while taking the bribe of Rs 3,000 from Jena, informed a Vigilance release.
Mishra’s house at Somaraipur village under the Bhadrak Rural police station also came under search. He was forwarded to court later.
