The election agent of BJD’s defeated candidate former MlA Bishnu Das has lodged a complaint at the Election Commission of India (ECI) that the Jagatsinghpur legislator Chiranjiv Biswal had filed false affidavit during filing of nomination papers with regard to furnishing information on his landed property, income of spouse and details about his bank deposits.
Acting on the complaint, the ECI instructed the local Sub-Collector here on Saturday to submit a report about the issue of allegation as he was the returning officer for the elections. Briefing mediapersons, Bishnu Das’ election agent Dolagovinda Dash alleged that during filing of nomination papers, MlA Biswal had suppressed a few details pertaining to his property, spouse’s income and bank deposits in his affidavit. Citing discrepancy, the agent disclosed that Biswal possesses land property in his native Tulanga village under Tirtol area but the property detail is absent in his affidavit.
