The Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested a youth Biswajit Sahu (20) alias Mantu in a dacoity case from Mulapadia in Old Town here under the lingaraj police limits in the city.
The police also seized electronic goods worth around Rs 6 lakh from the possession of the accused. Two 85-cm lCD TVs, five 36cm lCD TVs, two monitors, three sound speakers, an electronic weight machine and a sound mixture machine were seized.
Acting on a tip-off, lingaraj PS IIC Rajendra Kumar Mandal and his team conducted raid on the house of accused Sahu at Mulapadia and seized the electronic gadgets which was planned for disposal by the accused.
A month ago, Sahu along with his aide Pradip Sahu alias Pintu of Bhimtangi had made a dacoity bid at Seashore office at Patia here and were involved in many other criminal activities like loot, snatch and creating violence in the city. The duo is involved in many cases under the Capital, Airfield, Khandagiri and lingaraj police stations, said the IIC.
Pintu is now at the Jharpada Jail here in connection to a violence case registered at the Capital police station. The police would take him on a two-day remand for further interrogation into the matter, police sources said.
