The theft and robbery cases in the Silk City are not new, but the recent burglary of huge amount of gold jewelleries and cash from a locked house at Somanath Nagar area in Brahmapur has triggered panic.
One Sulochana Patra, a resident of Somanath Nagar‘s 3rd lane, had gone to her brother’s house in Bhubaneswar on August 29. She received a call from her neighbours that the lock of the main door of her house was broken.
When Sulochana returned, she found the entire house ransacked and all valuables and cash looted.
In an FIR lodged on September 5, she stated that 600 gram of gold jewelleries, including a gold biscuit, 11 gold chains, two coins, five pairs of ear-rings, eight rings and 10 lockets, 500 gram of silver jewelleries and cash of Rs 11 lakh were missing. Police are investigating into the incident.
