Two unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants posing themselves as policemen allegedly looted a gold chain from a 68-year-old woman in Jajpur district on Thursday.
Rama Sutar and her 70-year-old husband Bishnu Charana Sutar of Baleswar were waiting for a bus at Dala Chhack under the Jajpur Road police station when the two looters asked the woman to take off her gold chain to avoid a possible theft as some thieves were moving around.
The moment she took off the ornament to keep in a bag, the miscreants snatched the gold chain from her and fled from the spot.
Police began investigation into the incident, said Jajpur Road police station Inspector-in-Charge Amitav Mohapatra.
