The Odisha Jagruti Prabaha, a social organisation, observed the 118th birth anniversary of litterateur and journalist Godabarish Mohapatra in the city on Wednesday.
Attending the Jayanti Samaroh, writer Ranjita Panigrahy said Mohapatra’s one of the best creation ‘The Niakhunta’ newspaper was established on March 12, 1932 from Brahmapur. Prior to this, he was working as an assistant editor of ‘The Asha’ newspaper and then joined as managing editor of ‘The Utkal Hiteisuni’ newspaper published from here, she added.
“Though Banpur was Mohapatra’s birthplace, Brahmapur was his workplace,” Panigrahy said.
Writers like Chandra Bijoyee Mishra, children literature ‘Sishu Barta’ editor Manas Das and Bharati Moharana attended the celebration. Organisation’s president Swadesh Ranjan Pattanaik coordinated the event.
