In a remarkable achievement, the Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) has bagged 12 (B) status for its performances in various fields. The University Grants Commission (UGC) being satisfied with its academic activities has conferred this unique status.
“The GMU is the first university in the State among the recently created ones to be endowed with the status,” said Deputy Registrar of university Prof UC Pati.
He further said that the 12 (B) status will make GMU eligible to receive various grants for infrastructure development, research programmes and other purposes from the UGC. Moreover, the 12 (B) status also paves the way for NAAC accreditation, he added.
“This will help the university tremendously in its journey towards quality and excellence. A number of student-centric quality initiatives can now be launched by the university. The institution had been trying to achieve the status since the day it was upgraded to university,” Prof Pati further said.
