The Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) will find an all-time end as regards staff crunch as a fresh initiative has been taken in this regard.
A year before, the GMU authorities had published an advertisement for appointment of 144 teaching staffs in various departments as there was an acute shortage of teachers. About 3,200 candidates applied for these posts.
But due to a ban order from the Supreme Court, there could be no appointments all over the country and the GMU was no exception, informed Vice-Chancellor of the university Dr AK Pati.
“But after new guidelines from the State Government, a fresh process has begun here and we are hopeful of fulfilling all the vacancies in near future. However, the candidates who applied earlier have to apply afresh this time also,” the VC added.
The university has plans to complete the entire appointment process within a fixed time limit of six months, he said further.
Notably, the GMU is facing acute staff shortage due to no fresh appointments and even some departments are going to be bereft of staff in near future as senior staff of these departments would retire within a few months.
But the fresh process can help solve the problem, VC Dr Pati informed.
