The Gangadhar Meher Autonomous College has been selected as an ‘A’ Grade educational institution by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). A formal announcement in this regard was made on Sunday.
The college had secured 3.26 out of 4 points during NAAC inspections held in March. The NAAC Expert Committee had found the infrastructure and teaching methods of the college to be of high quality.
The college would now be eligible to receive more funds from the University Grants Commission (UGC) after this accreditation.
Besides, the NAAC team has also recommended to the Central Government to accord university status to the college.
In 2005, the NAAC had accorded ‘B’ Grade to the college.
A NAAC team headed by former VC of the Bharti Darshan University Thanga Mutthu and consisting of retired Kakatiya University Professor Pramila Devi and BS Sharma of Assam had visited the college on March 25.
