The GMR Kamalanga Energy limited (GKEl) has been actively engaged in promoting ways of healthy living among residents of Achalkot village under Mangalpur panchayat in Dhenkanal district.
The GKEl has opened a nutrition centre at the village that offers techniques for weight management and supplements for a healthy life of women and children. It was set up last year with an objective to provide good nutrition to locals.
Around 18 women have enrolled in the centre and are getting nutrition supplements and ante-natal care regularly. The centre provides nutrition foods and micronutrient supplements to pregnant and lactating mothers.
The GKEl is also taking support from local ANM as nutrition expert which helps to enrol more women in the centre. The initiative has helped reduce maternal and child mortality rate in the panchayat.
The GKEl is also organising health camps for the panchayat people. Around 1,700 patients were benefitted from the health camps and received free medicines.
The GKEl also organises healthy baby shows at the Anganwadi Centers regularly and provides ‘newborn health and safety kits’ to the mothers to ensure that all new born babies stay healthy.
