The Ganjam Consumer lawyers’ Association, at a recently-held meeting, severely criticised the Cuttack Consumer lawyers’ Association for filing a writ petition at the Orissa High Court opposing operation of a circuit bench of the State Consumer Commission here with effect from November 17 or 18.
Notably, the High Court has stayed the circuit bench decision while making the National Consumer Court a party in the case and setting November 22 as the next date for hearing.
The Ganjam Consumer lawyers’ Association adopted a censure motion against its Cuttack counterpart on Tuesday. The meeting held under chairmanship of president Shiba Prasad Mishra gave the responsibility to secretary Satish Panigrhi and former president Kailash Chandra Mishra to intervene in the case. They have filed an intervention petition.
The association has urged people to provide all support for establishment of the proposed circuit bench.
Among others, Ganjam Bar Association president Bansidhar Palo, secretary Naresh Prasad Patro, former president Sisir Padhy, Abani Gaya, Ram Prasad Panda, laxmikanta Dash, Dr Shyama Kanta Jena, Karunakar Panigrahi and former president Kapileswar Patnaik were present.
