In a shocking incident on Friday, three girls were misbehaved by hooligans on the Patia-Nandankanan road in the city. It was also alleged that the girls were roughed up along with their boyfriend by the miscreants.
Sources said that in the afternoon, three girls and the male friend were gossiping near Patia Square when two youths passed comments at them and fled away. Undaunted, the girls and the boy friend chased them.
Meanwhile, the victims informed about the incident to the Nandankanan police, who advised them to follow the accused youths. But before Nandankanan, near a bridge, five to six of the accused youths’ friends stopped and abused them. It was also alleged that they were physically assaulted. However, as the police reached the spot late, the hooligans managed to flee from the spot. The police have lodged a complaint and are investigating into the incident.
The incident has put a big question mark on the response time of the ‘Smart City’ police in reacting to distress calls.
