A girl of Baleswar town has set an example by valuing commitment and relationship after she tied nuptial knot with a person who has lost both the legs following an accident. Niki Panda, a resident of Gopalgaon of the town, got married to Debabrata Sarangi, a Government doctor posted in Jajpur district on Wednesday.

The arranged marriage between Panda and Sarangi was fixed in 2019. After engagement, Debabrata met with an accident and lost both of his legs. When Niki’s parents and well-wishers know this, they expressed their reluctance to proceed with marriage with Debabrata. Yet, Niki insisted on marrying the boy with whom her marriage had been fixed.

The parents of Niki remained silent without forcing her to marry another boy. After Covid restrictions were lifted, they explored other options for her marriage, but Niki didn’t agree stating that a mishap could occur with anyone at any time.

Finally respecting the sentiments of their daughter, they agreed. The marriage was solemnized at Kalyan Mandap at Gopalgaon on Wednesday and several people blessed the couple appreciating the humanity and ideology of the girl.
