An eight-year-old schoolgirl was raped by a youth in an under-construction school building on Friday last in the primary school of village Nathapura under the Kuakhia police station of Jajpur district.
The incident came to light on Thursday after the uncle of the victim girl filed an FIR at the Kuakhia police station alleging that the girl was raped by a village youth inside the school premises.
Due to roof-casting of the school building, the classes had been suspended after 12 pm. The victim along with other children were playing in the school while the accused, Kuna Pradhan (23), lured her to the under-construction building on the pretext of giving her chocolate and then raped her.
IIC of the police station KC Nayak said the girl was staying with her uncle in the village. As her uncle had gone to Bhubaneswar, he could not file the FIR on the next day of the incident.
