In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old girl of Malada village in Ganjam district, 40 km from here, was allegedly gangraped by some youths of the same village on December 31.
The youths raped her when she was alone in the house, she alleged in her complaint to the police on Thursday.
She was living with her mother but the miscreants took opportunity of her mother’s absence. The girl lodged an FIR with the police after she informed her mother about the incident and she asked her to lodge a complaint.
“We have detained the four accused youth,” said Ganjam police station Inspector- in- Charge Ramakanta Mohallick. He said the victim was sent to MKCG Medical College Hospital for medical test.
“We will take further action after getting the medical report,” he added. Meanwhile, a section of the villagers demanded the police to release the detained youths of their locality claiming they were framed in a false case.
