Over promise of BSNl job
An educated village girl seeking a job was drugged and repeatedly raped in a hotel along the Chakratirth Road here on Saturday last by a man who had assured her of a job in the BSNl.
The 23-old-year old girl of Gaindaol village under the Sadar police station limits on the Sunday approached Superintendent of Police Ashis Kumar Singh and filed her complaint.
She stated that she met one Bhaskar Biswal of Alasankha village in her village bus on the September 4 last. Bhasker (45) said he had been working with the Puri BSNl since a long time. He assured her of arranging a job for her and took her mobile number.
On September 6, Biswal called to her cell phone and asked her to come with all her certificates to Puri as two senior BSNl officers would be there. He promised her to introduce her to them to get a job. The girl as per the complaint came from her village in a bus and on informing that she had reached Puri, she was taken to the Annapurna hotel from the bus stand.
When she got into a hotel room she was persuaded to take soft drink. After consuming the drink, she fell unconscious. During her unconscious state, she was repeatedly raped, she stated in her complaint. When she regained her sense she found Bhasker sitting in the room and threatened her not to disclose this.
The Sea Beach police registered a case of rape. The girl was examined in the district headquarters hospital while accused Biswal was absconding. The police learnt that Biswal is a dailywage earner with the local BSNl unit. A manhunt has been on to nab the culprit. The police are also investigating into Biswal’s information over arrival of two senior BSNl officers on that day at Puri. The police too detained manager of the hotel and were questioning him.
