A 21-year-old girl died after falling into the septic tank of her house on Monday evening at village Radhanagar under the Dharmasala police station in Jajpur district.
The deceased was identified as Ankita Nayak.
The mishap occurred when Ankita was plucking flowers and she stepped on the damaged concrete slab cover of the septic tank and fell into it.
The incident went unnoticed for about two hours. Later, her family members searched for her and found her in the tank. She was immediately rushed to the Dharmsala Community Health Centre (CHC). The doctors of the hospital declared her dead.
Police rushed to the spot to investigate the incident. The body was handed over to the family members of the deceased, said Dharmasala police station IIC Tapan Kumar Nayak.
