A day after a servitor’s daughter climbed atop the chariot of lord Jagannath near Gundicha temple, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Saturday said that she might have climbed the Rath due to ignorance about ban.
“The video recording of the incident will be examined. A servitor’s daughter had climbed on the chariot possibly due to ignorance. The matter will be looked into,” Mohapatra told reporters.
Breaching the restrictions imposed by the SJTA, a girl said to be a daughter of Supakar (Cook) servitor of the 12th century shrine was seen climbing the Nandighosh, lord Jagannath’s chariot,on Friday evening.
She reportedly climbed on the chariot with the help of some servitors before pahandi (procession) of the deities to Aadapa Mandap inside the Gundicha temple.
The temple administration has only allowed devotees to touch the chariots this year.
