Tension prevailed at the MPC Autonomous College here on Thursday when students staged a demonstration against alleged sexual harassment of a PG student by a Head of Department (HoD) of the college. As per the allegation of the victim, on November 15, English Department HoD Bidyadhar Andia called the girl student to his chamber. When she went there, the HoD sexually harassed her. Though the student informed the matter to the college Principal, she remained indifferent to her plight. Irate over the inaction of the college authorities, students locked the main gate of the college and staged a demonstration demanding transfer of the HoD. But no complaint was lodged with police in this connection till last reports came in.
