Gift the school something great for future generation

A strong desire to succeed and climb greater heights is what has made the students of the University High School, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar, different from others. Many of them have made name across the country and made the teachers proud.

Now, it is the Diamond Jubilee year of the school and the old students have come together to inspire the present children of the school once again to keep the fame of the institution flying high.

The alumni of the school have formed an association to help the school in its continued onwards march towards excellence. It is quite heartening to mention that a corpus of Rs 13.50 lakh mobilised through the support from the members of AAHUS under the Mo School Abhiyan has proved instrumental in getting two times of the matching contribution from the Government, i.e., Rs 39.50 lakh for the first-phase development of the school. This fund has been utilised by the alumni to equip the school with a computer centre, a science lab, a library, furniture, a bicycle stand, drinking water facility and renovation of toilets and classrooms, etc.

The exemplary contribution of the alumni in the development of the school has caught the attention of Mo School Abhiyan and has given an impetus for a much larger project in the second phase. The alumni, for a long time, has felt that the school is in need of a multipurpose hall to be used for morning prayers, serving midday meals, cultural functions, seminars, workshops and indoor sports. To go ahead for this project, the alumni felt convinced that a state-of-the-art facility centre with an indoor hall to accommodate 750-1,000 students is required with an estimated outlay of Rs 1.5 crore.

The alumni association started a campaign for the purpose with an appeal to the alumni spread across the globe; and within 15 days, Rs 40 lakh has been garnered. This contribution is going to be quite helpful in tapping a double contribution, i.e., Rs 80 lakh, under the Mo School Abhiyan from the Government of Odisha.

It is hoped that the celebration of Diamond Jubilee in 2022 with a beautiful multipurpose hall will be a great occasion and spread a message of “Let’s return to our school and be part of its glory ".
