About 100 girls of a Government Nodal School under lepripada block in Sundargarh have left their hostel for homes since last seven days with fear of ghost in the hostel. The other panicky inmates have been shifted to another room where the inmates watch TV in leisure hour.

The school managing committee is now trying to sort out the issue at the earliest to bring back the inmates to the hostel. There are about 110 girl inmates at the Guniadih Government Nodal School. On December 3 night, a girl of Class-VI was suddenly noticed murmuring and having gone to the rooftop of the hostel alone and then becoming unconscious near the water tank.At that time, some other inmates had gone to the roof to bring their dried clothes, and when they witnessed this surprising incident about that girl there, they informed teachers and school headmistress and hostel superintendent Marium Ekka about it.

The teachers along with inmates went to the roof and rescued the unconscious girl. After the girl regained consciousness, she said a woman wearing red saree had called her to the rooftop to the latter’s “own house” while some other people were pulling her. After this incident, three other girls and the hostel cook also went unconscious in a similar way. The four girls and the cook were taken to hospital, but doctors said their health conditions were perfect.

District Welfare Officer Sarat Chandra Sahoo and the lepripada Block Education Officer came to the school and requested the girls to stay in the hostel. But parents of the girls took their children home. The girls have not yet returned to the hostel.

Headmistress Marium Ekka said, “looking into the surroundings, we are compelled to believe about existence of ghost. In September, two girls had also gone unconscious in a similar way. We are trying to sort out this serious issue very soon.”
