Former Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai has suggested to the State Government to provide ‘equal pay for equal work’ to all contractual and temporary employees while hailing formation of a fitment committee for implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
“About 4 lakh employees and 3.5 lakh pensioners will benefit when the 7th Pay Commission recommendations are implemented. It would have better if the Government executed the Supreme Court order for
‘equal work for equal pay’ for over a lakh of contractual and temporary employees,”
Ghadai said in a statement.
He said the teachers, who are getting salaries at different rates for equal work, would have been very happy
and would have never
taken to the streets during Assembly sessions further demanding equal pay.
Ghadai, however, stated that the State exchequer would have a big financial burden if ‘equal pay for equal work’ is implemented.
To meet the burden, the Government should emphasize on additional revenue collection,
he opined.
