Ghadai expulsion: Suppressed dissent in Sambalpur BJD

Published on:

There is none to oppose the decision of BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on the matter of expelling senior leader and former Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai.

But at the same time, there are many who opined that Ghadai should have given a chance to make his stand clear as media report is at times biased.

All the MPs and MlAs including the frontline leaders of the party here narrated the decision of Chief Minister Patnaik as appropriate since his image and personality is the sole factor behind the victory of the party and a successful and vibrant Government in the State.

“Hence, any indiscipline should be dealt with highhandedness and Naveen Patnaik has done it rightly,” the leaders said.

They further said that one must evaluate the singular effort of Patnaik to bring Odisha on path of progress. As a whole, the leaders here have nothing to say against the decision of the party president since he has proved his worth.

But, there are people while endorsing the decision opined that Ghadai must heave have been given a chance for show cause. This would have been a classic example of party democracy in a disciplined party having total grip over the region.

“Basing upon a newspaper report which has been continuously making an effort to tarnish the image of the Government and Naveen Patnaik in particular, the decision to expel a senior leader like Ghadai seems to be ‘hasty’ and ‘one sided’,” they said on a strict condition of anonymity.

“Fair chance to make his stand clear as to the reporting in the newspaper might have been given to Ghadai and it could have shown the patience of the party president in handling in crucial situation like the present one. When we are criticizing other parties since they are led by individual having no internal democracy, what example we have set here,” they asked.
