Gender-based inequality is growing among educated people in urban areas. A wide disparity among men and women is being witnessed due to the impact of globalisation. However, in rural areas, reverent towards women still exists. This has been observed by Panchayati Raj and law Minister Arun Sahoo.
Addressing a seminar on’ Concept of Gender Equality in 21st Century’, organised by the All Odisha lawyers’ Association (AOlA) on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the Minister said a full-fledged society could only be formed when respect to women is ensured. Sahoo also exhorted lawyers to try to solve various family disputes rather than running such cases in courts for long days.
Advocate General Surya Prasad Mishra and MP Prasanna Patsani shared the view that atrocities against women could only be removed from the society if women achieve economic equality. Among others, noted writer Hara Prasad Das and AOlA president Gyana Ranjan Mohanty and general secretary Bibhu Prasad Tripathy spoke on the occasion.
