Today’s new generation wants to know more about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his contribution to the nation. Opportunity should be created in this regard to know more about him, said RSS Eastern Zone Pracharak Pradeep Joshi during a programme held here to mark Netaji’s birth anniversary on Saturday.

Bose not only played a crucial role in the country’s freedom struggle, he also created a system for the post-Independent nation’s administration, economy, defence and foreign policies, he said.

Bose’s Indian National army (INA) had created such situation so that the British were forced to leave India. Even British Prime Minister Clement Richard Atlee had admitted the fact, said Joshi while attending the programme at Unit 2 Girls’ High School ground on the occasion of Netaji and freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai’s birth anniversaries organised by the RSS.

Joshi said patriotism was the foundation of the lives of these two great freedom fighters. The RSS has been training its volunteers on the basis of this principle, he added.

Former Professor in Political Science of Utkal University Surya Narayan Mishra, who also spoke, highlighted the relation between Bose and Mahatma Gandhi.

Several processions by 1,200 RSS workers were taken out from different locations of the city. After the processions reached Master Canteen Square, a grand procession moved towards the meeting ground.

The Sangh Parivar also felicitated MD Mustaq, who is doing research on Bose, and the families of Haribandu Champatiray, Shankar Samantray, Daitari Champatiray, Patitpaban Baliyarsingh, Arpi Martha, Chaitanya Guman Singh, Brahmachari  Ura Ray and loknath Ransingh, the persons associated with the INA, during the programme.

The programme was chaired by RSS Mahanagar Sangh Chalak Dr Basant Kumar Pati. Puri Sangh Chalak Baikunthnath Sahoo was also present on the occasion.
