A total of 27 cooking gas cylinders were distributed to BPl households of Komna block in Nuapada district under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjala Yojana (PMUY) by BJP State president Basanta Panda in Komna on Tuesday.
Panda said that currently 166 women have been selected, and further the programme would cover 99,785 women from Nuapada district in next three years.
While briefing about the scheme at the meeting, Panda said the beneficiaries for the scheme would be selected on the basis of the socio-economic caste census.
“We are spending two and a half days in a week to collect fire woods from jungle to feed our family. The scheme is a great support to us and thanks to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his great concern for women,” said Sumitra Kanta, one of the beneficiaries of the scheme.
