On the 13th day of their strike here at Mahatma Gandhi Marg (MGM), hundreds of Gaon Sathis under the banner of the Gaon Sathi Sangha Milita Kriyanusthan Committee (GSSMKC) on Tuesday tried to enter the State Assembly breaking the security barricades with the Government taking no effective measures to meet their demands.
The Gaon Sathis have been demanding regularisation of jobs, regular jobs under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) on the basis of their qualification in the Panchayati Raj Department and a provision of minimum remuneration of Rs5,000 per month to those who would not get regular jobs.
The Gaon Sathis are on the strike in front the Assembly since November 20.They threatened to continue their agitation till the fulfilment of the demands.
